Tension & Trauma
Release Exercises

TRE® is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.

What you should know about TRE?

Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (or TRE®) is based on the fundamental idea, backed by research, that stress, tension, and trauma is both psychological and physical. TRE®’s reflexive muscle vibrations generally feel pleasant and soothing. After doing TRE®, many people report feelings of peace and well-being. TRE® has helped many thousands of people globally. TRE was created by Dr. David Berceli. Dr. Berceli is an international expert in the areas of trauma intervention and conflict resolution.

Who can benefit from TRE?

You! Since this shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behavior as humans, everyone can benefit from TRE. This shaking of the muscles increases the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels. It can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses or traumas from accidents.Whether you are a parent/spouse who would like more patience with your family, a victim of violence or accident, a soldier suffering with PTSD, an athlete, or simply a person who wants to become more resilient and just feel better about life, you can benefit from TRE.

What makes TRE unique?

Natural Body Response
The therapeutic muscle tremors evoked by the TRE exercise process is a natural, internal, neuro-physiological response of the body to reduce its own stress and restore a sense of well-being.

Nonverbal Treatment
TRE is a body based (somatic) process which, when done properly, through a Certified TRE Provider can allow the individual to discharge tension from the body, which often does not require “revisiting the story”. (ie: verbally describing or talking about the traumatic experience)

Promotes Communication
TRE promotes cohesiveness and openness between participants and can be a helpful tool for dispute resolution. (ie: interpersonal, corporate and political communication)

How is TRE used? Integrative Technique
TRE can be taught as either a simple self-help, tension reduction technique in a physical exercise program OR it can be used as an effective complementary practice when integrated with other treatment modalities by those in the healing professions, including the treatment of PTSD and anxiety disorder recovery.

Individual or Large Group Application
TRE can be taught in very large groups for communities that have experienced mass trauma.

Use as Needed Throughout Life
TRE is designed to be a self-help tool that once learned, can be used as needed, throughout one’s life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wholeness.

Cross Cultural
TRE can cross culture and language barriers because it is based on natural physiological responses shared by all human beings.

What People Say

My husband and I adopted our daughter out of foster care 2 years ago. She is a smart, sweet, caring and feisty girl. She was removed from her biological family when she was 4 for neglect and sexual abuse. She lived in a shelter and various foster homes until she was 7.

She suffers from nightmares, sleep walking and a serious fear and trust of men. On a chance, I met Chad and he was wearing his Mental Joe t-shirt. I asked him about it and I asked if this process works on children. Our daughter too has been diagnosed with PTSD. He said yes and he came to our home.

Our daughter was not happy that a 'strange man' was coming to meet her. I assured her it would be ok. Chad had his first session with her last night. He did great with her and what I saw was amazing.

What an amazing experience TRE was last night. Didn't know what to expect going in but was amazed how I reacted to the technique. Chad is an amazing coach and talked us through the entire session. Looking forward to my next session.

I worked with Chad at a retreat and it was a great experience. Chad is a professional and very passionate about our mental health! My TRE experience was great and I am excited to set up my next treatment! I felt a lot better the day after my treatment. I've already passed the information on to my therapist who works with veterans and she is excited to meet Chad!

I'm a rape survivor who has been diagnosed with PTSD. Along my path of healing, I have worked with therapists, psychiatrists, counselors, etc.; my recovery support has been widespread. However, I only recently tried TRE.

In my very first session, I experienced a release of trauma in my body and have been sleeping better since. I plan to continue working with Chad as part of my recovery to deal with my symptoms and every day triggers. I am incredibly grateful to have found out about TRE.

A big thank you to Chad McLean for his work with me! For making me feel comfortable, for being patient, kind, professional and above all else - for offering this powerful took right here in my local area!
